Sunday Reads And Listens...The Chinese Digital Wall...Tesla And Appple Deliver Flops...And Exxon Bigger Than Tesla Again

Happy Sunday…

This weekend was fun. Social Leverage had three of our twosomes in the hunt for first place in the Grass Clippings tournament. But, here is is the $40,000 winning birdie putt to win the Grass Clippings Open…

Here are some more photos for the first amateur (or pro) tournament to be competed ‘under the lights’.

My son Max finished just one shot out in the qualifier for the tournament for team Stocktwits, but it was exciting to watch his hit some pressure shots.

Social Leverage led the seed investment that got the league and course going.

Get ready for a BIG earnings week.

Om Malik with the biggest tech news of the year….while America dithers over Tik Tok…

China has asked Apple to remove WhatsApp, Threads, Telegram and Signal from its app store in the country.

As Om summarizes:

Chinese are happy to take decisive and swift action when it comes to controlling their own self-interests. And what is Apple going to do? Say no? And lose access to Chinese market, see revenues evaporate and stock price shrink? No one — especially since it is a stock that is indirectly owned by most Americans.

As an aside, while China considers all its tech companies (like Bytedance) as part of its national strategic infrastructure, the United States (and its allies) think of Apple and other technology companies as public enemies.

Next up…

The Apple Vision Pro has been a bust and so has the Cybertruck. Tesla the stock is a mess itself:

Because of this drawdown, Exxon is now once again bigger than Tesla.

The degenerate economy is one that seems to stand for 100 baggers overnight. You can’t blame the yoots. They have seen Gamestop, AMC, Bitcoin and have daily options to trade .I think they will have to learn the generational lesson that 10 and 100 baggers take time. I have had a few 100 baggers and a few still on paper (over 15 years hold).

Have a great Sunday.
